Default Petition: A change to low-level arenas.

Ok, so I was in Ascalon Arena before as my new Monk, and we were having a good, nonetheless easy (6 flawless victories) time. Then this thing came up that made us log out, then back in again, that split up our group. We were fine with that though, as there were only a few people in the starting area and we were likely to be teamed up again anyway.

We were teamed up, which made me happy, as we had no Mending wammos or frenzy/heal sig warriors. On the first fight we got owned. Why? They had elites (broad head arrow and punishing shot)?! I know this has been happening for a while, but it spoils the fun for people playing fairly and turns away new PvPers. It really gets to me that anyone with a decent amount of cash can dominate these arenas.

I think that when you are in the staging areas and press the 'enter arena' button, it checks all your skills. If it sees an elite, it gives you a message that says 'You have an elite skill on your bar. Please remove it before entering.' and you cannot enter. To prevent people from changing to an elite when the timer has started, your skillbar can be 'locked', meaning you can't change your skills unless you stop the timer.

What are your thoughts on this? Don't say 'Well get yourself a run down to the desert and cap WoH'. Some people like to play GW like it's meant to be played. Besides, this just feeds the problem, as new players who don't have enough cash will be the ones starting petitions like this.

EDIT: If you disagree with me, then say why. If all you put is /notsigned, then it tells me that you are one of these people who enjoy taking elites and max armor to riun other peoples fun.

I agree, it's a simple solution and it's just plain right.

I agree totally, I also think this should happen with armor. I will be fighting in the arena, literally not hurting people because they have Droks armor, and such. Even if I had 3 level 20's to fund my newest character I wouln't be ruining actual new player's fun. Fully agree!

I was in Ascalon Arena again yesterday, with my monk now level 10 and wanting to get so much PvP that i'm sick of it, and there were about 9 people competing. This means there were enough for 2 competing teams and 1 person got left out. Since one of our people had droks armor (it was platemail so it had to be droks), we often had flawless victories, and didn't lose once. Although we were winning, it just wasn't fun. It felt like i was cheating. Everytime we came out, it would be the same team, and everytime they would say; 'Not <--Name removed--> again', and get their butt kicked.

It's just not fun that way.

Not a new complaint, but
/signed.

And yes, they should also restrict armor.

If they want a real pvp exprience all they have to do is make a pvp character and RA. The low level early arenas are inherently unfair. A group full of levels 2s will not beat a group full of level 5s.

I've campaigned for this in-game and on this forum multiple times. I get flamed at in both venues. I've given up by now; but I'm glad you bring it up again.

Some argue that it's too much code! ANet can't handle it!

My argument was, if in the Dragon Arena and the Snowball fights, everyone was set to the same hp and armor level, how can ANet not be able to handle setting everyone's armor back and detecting/disabling elite skills.

Not a Fifty Five, I understand what you mean when you say, lvl 2 vs lvl 10 will always bring the same results. However, low-level arena IS a "real pvp experience" for those just beginning. Or, those who enjoy playing the game as it was meant to and taking the words "low level" seriously.

Not to mention, how superior these twinkies can get with their attitudes ... every last one of them assumes that if you did NOT get run/have friends kill a boss for you to cap, it's because you have no friends and/or no money. Nothing about honor at all.

They are sad. And I am still sad about the demise of Ascalon & Yaks arenas, even though I have not played in there in ages. It's a shame.

This may be true, but who's fault is it that they are level 2? My argument is that it's not fair for ANYONE, regardless of level, to bring inappropriate equipment to low-level arenas.

If the level 5 players have appropriate equipment, then it is just that they are a higher level. It is simply the person playing the level 2's fault (that they would most likely lose) because they have not leveled up enough. This is not a valid reason to /notsign to my idea.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, about the 'real PvP experience' bit, I don't think it's possible to get anywhere in RA for a new player with basically no unlocks, no team/player builds known, little or no game experience, and limited knowledge of classes.

just get a newbie char run to cap some elites, and then use them in <lvl 10 to get glad points. Seems unfair, but creative.

Mods, delete this guys post (then this one as it would make no sense). All he acheives by posting this is raising his post count. Shows how much he can actually read aswell.

I know I haven't posted here in a while, but it seems like it would be hard for Anet to make an AL limit. Casters, Rangers, and Warriors all have different AL's, and don't forget there are two different crafters in Ascalon City (one of which offers armor with the same AL as Yak's Bend armor). Maybe if they added a bit in the armor description that says something like 'Allows access to Ascalon Arena'?
